Mumbai, Nov 27 (NationPress) Acclaimed filmmaker Devashish Makhija has joined forces with actor Anshuman Jha for an electrifying, yet-untitled crime noir thriller that promises to leave audiences breathless.
Makhija, known for his impressive works such as “Joram”, “Bhonsle”, and “Ajji”, is gearing up to deliver a captivating piece that challenges the norms of genre, character dynamics, and moral dilemmas.
“I aspire for this film to be my legacy,” Makhija expressed. “Having followed Anshuman’s artistic journey for years, I see a rare blend of stillness and intensity in him, which is perfectly suited for this project.”
He continued, “The role requires a delicate balance of restraint, chaos, fragility, and strength, and I believe Anshuman can embody all these traits, sometimes simultaneously. I’m eager to create this world alongside him.”
Anshuman, known for films like Love Sex Aur Dhokha, Chauranga, Lakadbaggha, and No Fathers in Kashmir, echoed Makhija’s enthusiasm: “Honestly, I haven’t felt this thrilled about a script since LSD. This has been 15 years in the making. Devashish is one of the most daring and innovative storytellers we have.”
“His films are not just viewed; they are experienced. Collaborating with him is both an honor and a challenge—one I’ve been yearning for. This script deeply affected me, which is always a sign to say yes,” he added.
The film will be developed as an Indo–German–French co-production, with the duo currently in Goa finalizing discussions on the film's framework. India's First Ray Films will support this project as the Indian production house.
Anshuman’s recent work includes his directorial debut Lord Curzon Ki Haveli, filmed entirely with a single lens. The cast features Rasika Dugal, Arjun Mathur, Tanmay Dhanania, and Paresh Pahuja.
Shot in the UK, this Hitchcockian chamber drama blends suspense with sharp commentary on identity, all set against the backdrop of a mysterious evening. The film faced over six months of delays with Indian censors, as per reports.
