Anshuman Jha: Experiencing Romance on Screen Has Always Been a Dream

Mumbai, Dec 18 (NationPress) Actor Anshuman Jha, featured in a romantic tale with actress Sarah Hopkins in Welcome To Agra, revealed that exploring the romance genre has been on his wishlist.

Anshuman shared: "After finishing Lakadbaggha 2 this December, which is purely an action film, romance as a genre has been a goal for me as an actor."

He further noted: "Hailing from Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, working on a Hindi love story set in the north has always been another desire, and Welcome To Agra allows me to fulfill that. My character in my debut film LSD was a genuine love story, so it feels wonderful to return to a film centered entirely around romance."

Welcome To Agra, directed by debutant Ashish Dubey, presents a classic love story between a cycle rickshaw driver and a British tourist in Agra, set around the year 2000.

The actor remarked: "A Desi Rickshawalla and a British Tourist, set in the year 2000 - it’s a sincere love story between two contrasting characters in simpler times. I will be preparing for it over the next two months and am thrilled to shoot in Agra in February-March. I’ve never been to the Taj, so I am happy that a film will take me there."

Anshuman gained recognition for his performance in Love Sex Aur Dhokha. He has also appeared in films like Yeh Hai Bakrapur, X: Past Is Present, Chauranga, Mona Darling, Angrezi Mein Kehte Hain, and No Fathers In Kashmir.

His 2020 web series Mastram achieved over a billion views on MX Player. He also starred in the film Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele.

His recent release, the action-thriller Lakadbaggha in 2023, has garnered significant acclaim, including the Best Actor Award at the South Asian International Film Festival.

He began his career as a producer with Mona Darling under his own banner, First Ray Films. Additionally, he portrayed the lead character of "Bhola" in the grand Bollywood musical Jhumroo at the Kingdom of Dreams in Gurgaon from 2016 to 2017.
