Mumbai, Jan 11 (NationPress) The celebrated Punjabi artist Diljit Dosanjh, who has been igniting stages with his Dil-Luminati tour, recently revealed the initial visuals from his upcoming film 'Punjab '95'.
On Saturday, Diljit took to his Instagram, sharing a series of images showcasing his character from the film.
He captioned, “I Challenge the Darkness. Punjab 95”.
In the first image, Diljit Dosanjh is depicted sitting on the floor with a raw and rugged appearance, dressed in a simple kurta and turban. His bloodied and bruised face radiates a profound sense of pain and resilience.
This film draws inspiration from the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra.
Another image provides a glimpse into Khalra's personal life, presenting Diljit as Khalra, alongside two children, offering a touching preview of the activist's real-life journey.
Jaswant Singh Khalra was the director of a bank in Amritsar, Punjab during the turbulent times of militancy. Following Operation Blue Star, the assassination of Indira Gandhi, and the 1984 Anti-Sikh Riots, the police were granted the power to detain individuals for any reason, often labeling them as suspected terrorists.
The police faced accusations of executing unarmed suspects in staged shootouts and incinerating numerous bodies to conceal the murders. Khalra was investigating four significant cases concurrently, persistently gathering evidence and witness accounts.
The Central Board of Film Certification in India had requested 120 cuts from the filmmakers. The exhibition of the film was uncertain due to its sensitive subject matter. However, following Diljit’s remarkable rise to fame and international attention, it appears that the film will finally come to fruition.
In the meantime, Diljit recently met with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, in the national capital.
