Diljit Dosanjh Honors Manmohan Singh at Guwahati Concert

Mumbai, Dec 29 (NationPress) Punjabi sensation Diljit Dosanjh, who has been receiving accolades globally for his live performances, dedicated his latest concert in Guwahati to the late former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
The actor-singer shared a heartfelt video on his Instagram on Sunday, where he paid a poignant tribute to the former PM. In the video, Diljit remarked that MMS was a man of dignity, who consistently held himself with sophistication and refrained from responding rudely to anyone.
He stated, “This concert is dedicated to the former late Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. He lived a remarkably simple life, never resorting to retaliation or derogatory speech, which is quite challenging in the realm of politics.”
He proceeded to recite a shayari once expressed by MMS, saying, "Hazaro’n jawabo’n se meri khamoshi acchi, na jane kitne sawalo ki aabru dhak leti hai.” The superstar encouraged the youth, including himself, to adopt such manners.
In his caption, he wrote, “Today’s Concert is dedicated to Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji. DIL-LUMINATI TOUR Year 24.”
MMS passed away on December 26 following a prolonged illness. Numerous members of the film industry expressed their condolences and acknowledged his contributions to the nation, highlighting his role in shaping several significant moments in modern India.
Previously, Diljit addressed the alleged “conspiracy” surrounding his spelling of the Indian state of Punjab. He took to X (formerly Twitter) to clarify the matter.
In a detailed note, he shared his views on how English can be quite complex, particularly for those whose first language is not English.
He wrote, “If I mistakenly omitted India’s flag after writing ‘Panjab’ in a tweet, it turns into a conspiracy. In a tweet from Bengaluru, I forgot to include the Indian flag after writing ‘Panjab’, and it became a conspiracy.”
He continued, “Writing ‘Panjab’ instead of ‘Punjab’ will still mean ‘Punjab’. Panj Aab - 5 Rivers. Kudos to those who create conspiracies around the usage of an English term. You know what? I will write ‘Panjab’. How many times must we prove that we LOVE INDIA? Bring something new, or is creating conspiracies what you are paid for? #Vehley.”
The superstar has experienced a remarkable rise in recent years, thanks to the box-office success of his films in both Hindi and Punjabi cinema. He also made history by performing at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in April 2023, becoming the first Indian artist to achieve this milestone, followed by fellow Punjabi artist A. P. Dhillon at Coachella in April 2024.
Meanwhile, Diljit is poised to wrap up the India segment of the Dil-Luminati tour in Ludhiana.
