Chennai, Jan 20 (NationPress) The production team behind director Mohan G's highly anticipated Tamil-Telugu historical epic 'Draupathi 2' unveiled the first look poster of actor Dinesh Lamba portraying Ghiyasuddin Thamkani on Tuesday.
For those who may not know, the film is set to be released in theaters on January 23 this year.
Director Mohan G Kshatriyan took to his X account to share the exciting first look and mentioned, "In just three more days, #Draupathi 2 will be in your favorite theaters.. Starting January 23."
Produced by Chola Chakravarthy of Netaji Productions in collaboration with G. M Film Corporation, 'Draupathi 2' has generated significant buzz among fans.
The narrative unfolds in the 14th century against the backdrop of the reign of Hoysala emperor Veera Vallalar III, the courage and resistance of the Kadavarayas of Sendhamangalam, and the tumultuous changes brought about by the Mughal invasion of Tamil Nadu.
Alongside Richard Rishi and Rakshana Induchoodan, actor and cinematographer Natti Natraj will also play a pivotal role.
The cast includes notable actors like Y.G. Mahendran, Nadodigal Barani, Saravana Subbiah, Vela Ramamoorthy, Siraj Johnny, Dinesh Lamba, Ganesh Gaurang, Divi, Devayani Sharma, and Arunodayan, further enriching the film's historical narrative.
In a previous interview with IANS, Mohan G Kshatriyan stated that 'Draupathi 2' will continue the story from 'Draupathi', the franchise's first installment. "The film runs for 2 hours and 39 minutes. Of that, only eight to nine minutes unfolds in 2025, while the majority is set in the 14th century," the director revealed.
Kshatriyan shared that the screenplay was inspired by a concise book titled Moondram Vallalla Maharaja by historian Annal Kandar.
"The primary historical events depicted in the film are based on real occurrences. Nonetheless, we exercised creative liberties in character development. Crafting the script took nearly a year, as I engaged with numerous individuals to gain insights on this topic. The third Veera Vallalalar ruled with Thiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu as his capital," he explained.
The film also features a talented technical crew. The Telugu dialogues have been crafted by Samrat, while the music score is by Ghibran Vaibodha.
Cinematography is managed by Philip R. Sundar and choreography is led by Thanika Tony.
Stunt coordination is handled by Action Santosh, with editing by Devaraj and art direction by Kamalnathan.
