Divya Dutta Discusses Influencer Casting in Bollywood
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, March 23 (NationPress) Bollywood actress Divya Dutta has shared her thoughts on the increasing trend of casting social media influencers in significant Bollywood productions, particularly due to their online popularity.
In her discussion with IANS, she emphasized that the main criterion for casting should be the suitability for the role, regardless of how many followers someone has on social media.
Divya remarked, “I believe that casting should be based on whether a person fits the role, whether they are an influencer or not.”
Addressing the pressure to remain active on social media in light of its rapid growth, the Chiraiyaa actress stated that she has always chosen her own path and does not succumb to the pressure of being constantly engaged on digital platforms.
“My philosophy is simple: I will do what works for me. I have consistently walked a different path. Everything I share on social media is something I genuinely enjoy. It blends into both my professional and personal life. I post only when I feel inspired,” she explained.
Divya also reflected on her recent experience as a jury member for awards focusing on social media and influencers, where she expressed excitement about witnessing individuals from various backgrounds leveraging digital platforms to establish their identities.
“It’s eye-opening to realize how limited your perspective can be—your work, your shoots, it’s all about you! When you look beyond that, you see a homemaker transforming her culinary skills into a podcast, or a travel lover becoming a blogger simply by taking that initial step,” she added.
She continued, “It’s truly motivating to observe how people are utilizing these platforms and acknowledging their families for their support.”
The Raja Ki Aayegi Baaraat actress underscored the importance of having encouragement and support, stating that it is essential for individuals to explore their capabilities. “You need someone who allows you to spread your wings, and this is the perfect time for that,” she noted.
Filmmaker Shashant Shah, who is preparing for the OTT release of Chiraiyaa, shared his insights, mentioning that while social media can serve as a valuable tool, it should not overshadow the core principle of casting.
“Even if I need to find an actor who isn’t on social media, that remains my primary responsibility. If I come across new talent on social media, that’s great! It’s an excellent platform and opportunity. The real question is how people choose to use it,” he stated.
Divya Dutta has received positive feedback and reviews for her role in the recently launched OTT series Chiraiyaa.
