Los Angeles, March 17 (NationPress) English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has not only unveiled his latest track but also delighted fans in New Orleans with an unexpected street performance.

The 34-year-old Grammy Award winner emerged from a black SUV in the historic French Quarter, dressed casually in a tie-dyed tee and blue pants, as reported by People magazine.

According to CBS affiliate 4WWL, he brought along a portable amplifier and microphone, quickly teaming up with The Soul Rebels brass band, who recently performed alongside Kendrick Lamar during the Super Bowl halftime show.

The artist then proceeded to serenade an unsuspecting audience with his new single 'Azizam', accompanied by the brass ensemble.

As reported by People, this marked the first time he had ever performed the song live, according to local news outlet Nola.com.

“We’re going to perform one song here, shoot a little content – and then we’ll parade down and play some familiar songs, if you’d like to join us,” he announced to the seated audience, as per the outlet.

“I’ve got a new song set to drop in a couple of weeks that no one has heard yet. This will be the first live performance of it. We’ll play it once here and then we’ll walk down, play some songs that you’re familiar with, and I’ll play this song again,” he added. The singer shared a video of the spontaneous performance on Instagram, featuring him navigating a narrow city street with his amplifier as the crowd grew.

“Performing some new music today on the streets of New Orleans with @thesoulrebels. Thanks to everyone who showed up,” he captioned the post.

This is not his first surprise performance this week: he electrified the crowd in Nashville during a surprise appearance at Tootsie’s bar, where he delivered a collection of his greatest hits alongside covers, including Britney Spears' 'Hit Me Baby One More Time'.

The singer also made an attempt at a surprise street concert in Bengaluru, India on February 9, but local authorities quickly curtailed the event.
