Mumbai, March 11 (NationPress) Film producer Ektaa R Kapoor, who recently marked three decades of her legendary sitcom ‘Hum Paanch’, is humorously seeking advice on weight loss.
On Tuesday, the producer shared a video on her Instagram while taking a break in Chennai. In the video, Ektaa asked her followers for guidance on weight loss methods, contemplating options such as pharmaceutical solutions like Mounjaro and Ozempic, an anti-inflammatory diet, or simply maintaining silence.
It seemed she was subtly referencing actor Ram Kapoor, whose transformation has astonished the industry. Ektaa questioned whether she should refrain from making any changes, stating “Hum toh bade hi acche lagte hain.” This phrase cleverly plays on her own plus-size and the title of the television show ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’, which starred Ram Kapoor and significantly altered his career trajectory.
Previously, Ektaa R Kapoor also shared a nostalgic video of the show's opening credits on Instagram.
In the caption, she reminisced, “Things I did when I was 19! Comedy came before drama! It's been 30 years now.”
The beloved series was produced by Balaji Telefilms, premiering in 1995 and quickly becoming a cherished comedy in India. The storyline followed Anand Mathur (portrayed by Ashok Saraf), a middle-class father navigating the humorous challenges posed by his five eccentric daughters: Meenakshi, Radhika, Sweety, Kajal, and Chhoti. Adding to the comedic chaos was his late wife, who communicated with him through a portrait on the wall.
The show is acclaimed for its lighthearted wit, strong female characters, and clever dialogue. Over the years, it has earned a classic status, reflecting an era when Indian television was still evolving and not saturated with repetitive content.
Enjoying a successful run until 1999, the show returned for a second season in 2005. ‘Hum Paanch’ played a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of Indian television comedy, solidifying Ektaa R Kapoor as a dominant force in the industry.
