Los Angeles, Jan 9 (NationPress) Renowned singer-songwriter Elton John has expressed that he has no issues with alcohol, stating he is not "anti-alcohol".

The iconic musician, who has maintained sobriety for the past 35 years, recently introduced his new Elton John Zero line of non-alcoholic sparkling wine, believing it will "fill a need" for him and his husband, David Furnish, when hosting gatherings, as reported by ‘Female First UK’.

At 78, Elton shared with The London Standard, "David and I spend a lot of our time entertaining people, and it's dull to only drink water. Especially during special events at home, raising a toast with just water feels inadequate. We’re not anti-alcohol."

He elaborated, "We simply choose not to drink it. It was a bit selfish on our part wanting something that serves a purpose in our life. It's been ages since we could host and partake, but we will serve wine to our guests. Now, I can 'join in.' Sipping on the Blanc de Blancs genuinely lifts my spirits and adds joy to the moment. It enhances my personality and brightens my mood. That’s the experience I hope others gain: enjoyment."

Elton added, "We have beautiful glassware that remains unused. I haven’t sipped from a champagne glass in 35 years, so it would be delightful to put them to use again."

According to ‘Female First UK’, Elton concluded his touring career in 2023 but continues to perform while cherishing family time with David and their children, Zachary, 15, and Elijah, 12.

When asked about his aspirations for 2026, Elton replied, "To stay present. I’ve spent decades focused on the future—planning tours, albums, deadlines. Now, I’m much better at appreciating the important aspects of life, particularly time with my family and friends."

Recently, Elton paid homage to David on Instagram, celebrating the 20th anniversary of their civil partnership last month.
