Los Angeles, April 5 (NationPress) Every individual has their own set of challenges, even someone as iconic as Elton John. The renowned musician has recently disclosed that he "cannot read, watch TV, or observe his sons playing sports."

The 78-year-old star, who shares sons Zachary, 14, and Elijah, 12, with husband David Furnish, suffered from a significant eye infection last July, which resulted in blindness in his right eye and limited vision in his left. He spoke about how this condition has profoundly affected his daily life, according to reports from ‘Female First UK’.

In a conversation with a journalist from ‘The Times’ newspaper, Elton expressed, "I can see you, but I can't watch TV, I can't read. I can't witness my boys playing rugby and soccer, which has been incredibly stressful for me as I’m used to enjoying those moments. It's distressing. You feel emotional, yet you must adapt because I’m fortunate to have the life I do. I still have my amazing family and can see a bit out of my left eye. So, I tell myself to just carry on with it.”

Elton had previously told ‘The Guardian’, “I am an eternal optimist, despite my current poor eyesight. There have been days filled with misery, but then I remind myself of my fortunate circumstances. I have developed a new appreciation for visually impaired individuals, and I lead a wonderful life, hoping my eyesight will get better. I've overcome addiction and health struggles, and I can always rise up and move forward.”

According to ‘Female First UK’, Elton, who has faced addiction issues in the past, recently mentioned that if he had the chance, he would advise his younger self to "stay away from drugs."

During an interview on Smooth Radio with presenter Kate Garraway, he stated, "Cherish what you do, which I did. Never indulge in drugs. I mean, I did take drugs, and it led me down a dark path, but after recovering, I had to navigate that journey to become who I am today. I wouldn’t want to relive those experiences, but they brought me to where I am now.”

“I just said, you know, recognize and admit how incredibly fortunate you are to have music in your life. Music has been a constant presence throughout my life. It has been there during my highs and lows, through depression, yet I continued to create music, record, and tour, which ultimately saved me. It nearly destroyed me, but it also saved me,” he concluded.
