Los Angeles, March 30 (NationPress) Music icon Elton John, currently aged 78, expresses his desire to live for an additional 20 years.

The legendary artist, who is a father to sons Zachary, 14, and Elijah, 11, with his partner David Furnish, admits he prefers not to discuss his own mortality. However, he was unexpectedly emotional while recording his new track, 'When This Old World Is Done With Me', which delves into the theme of mortality, as reported by femalefirst.co.uk.

In an interview with Rolling Stone UK, he shared, “I lost it for 45 minutes. It’s all on film. I just sobbed and sobbed… When you’re 77 years old and have a family with two children, you realize there’s a limited time ahead.”

“I hope to have at least another 20 years. But being confronted by a song makes you think, ‘Oh my God.’ It caught me off guard. I don’t enjoy discussing it, but one must be realistic.”

Having battled with addiction to drugs and alcohol in the past, John acknowledges that life has not been without its challenges since overcoming those issues.

He stated, “I didn’t think I would die, but I recognized that if I continued down that path, it was likely. I woke up to the beauty of life, and while things have improved, I have faced hardships, surgeries, and even lost vision in one eye after the album. There always seems to be a challenge to face.”

Working on his new album, 'Who Believes in Angels?', in collaboration with Brandi Carlile, has revitalized the 'Rocket Man' singer.

He remarked, “I keep pushing, and it’s music that helps me through. My family and this album have brought me immense joy. I feel like I’ve transformed into a new version of Elton John.
