Chennai, Feb 28 (NationPress) National Award-winning music director G V Prakash, who stars in India’s inaugural sea horror adventure, ‘Kingston’, revealed that the film's team constructed a ship set and implemented a massive hydraulic system to film several critical scenes.
In an interview with IANS, G V Prakash stated, “We filmed on real ships at sea. Shooting aboard a vessel is quite challenging as the actors are on one ship, the camera on another, and the lights on a third, all needing precise alignment for an ideal shot.”
“To capture specific key sequences, we built a substantial ship set costing Rs Two crore. Along with this, we utilized an extensive hydraulic system. Additionally, fog machines were brought in to generate fog,” the actor elaborated, noting that the crew filmed on this set for nearly 20 days.
The narrative centers around the title character Kingston, portrayed by G V Prakash, who ventures into a cursed sea in an attempt to lift the curse.
The team also participated in underwater swimming training provided by a specialized group from Mumbai. “They instructed us on how to hold our breath for three minutes underwater, as there are scenes requiring us to stay submerged while performing,” G V Prakash shared.
This film holds a special place for G V Prakash since he is not only composing the music and acting but also serving as one of the producers.
“We have invested four times the usual budget for a film,” G V Prakash revealed, mentioning that this fantasy adventure has the potential to evolve into a franchise. However, decisions regarding sequels will depend on the audience's reception of this film, he added.
The movie's trailer, released on Thursday, has significantly raised expectations ahead of its premiere on March 7 this year.
Directed by first-time filmmaker Kamal Prakash, the film boasts a talented cast including Divya Bharathi, Azhagam Perumal, and ‘Merku Thodarchi Malai’ fame Antony, among others.
The cinematography is managed by Gokul Benoy, with dialogues crafted by Dhivek. The editing process is overseen by San Lokesh. Key technical roles include S.S. Moorthy in the art department and Dhilip Subbarayan handling stunts.
This sea fantasy adventure film, set against a coastal backdrop, is produced on a grand scale by Zee Studios in collaboration with Parallel Universe Pictures, which is G V Prakash's own production company.
