Three-time National Award-winning music director, actor, and producer G V Prakash Kumar is gearing up for the release of his upcoming Tamil horror thriller 'Immortal', directed by Mariyappan Chinna, which is slated to hit screens on 4 September 2025. The film, which has already received a clean 'U' certificate from the Censor Board, marks a bold foray into vampire cinema — a genre that has seen limited exploration in Tamil films.

A 60-Day Planning Philosophy

Speaking to reporters in Chennai, G V Prakash revealed the secret behind his ability to juggle music composition, acting, and production simultaneously. 'I always plan for the next 60 days. If you ask me today what I will do on September 21, I can tell you that I will be in Gujarat. I have a 60-day schedule and I follow it religiously. I deliver what I have to on time,' he said.

This disciplined approach has allowed him to sustain a rare multi-hyphenate career in the Tamil film industry, taking on projects across creative disciplines without compromising delivery timelines.

What Makes 'Immortal' Different

G V Prakash described the film as a genre-blending experience unlike anything Tamil cinema has attempted at scale. 'Immortal is a relatively new genre for Tamil cinema. It's a vampire film. It hasn't been explored much in Tamil cinema. It's a fantasy mystery survival thriller,' he said.

The film features a storyline spanning 4,000 years, travelling back to prehistoric times. G V Prakash noted that he had initially wanted the film to be titled 'Saaga Varam' before the title was changed to 'Immortal' — a name that reflects the film's central narrative of a man who lives across millennia.

One Year of International-Grade CG

One of the most striking aspects of 'Immortal' is its post-production investment. The film's visual effects are being handled by top CG firms in Canada, who have been working on the project for over a year. 'The producer told us that we would shoot for a year and that we would wait for a year for CG. Only then would this film be released,' G V Prakash said, adding that the decision was made to ensure the visual effects met international standards.

Shooting for the film was completed before the release of 'Lokah', according to the actor. The makers had officially announced the wrap in May this year.

Cast and Technical Team

Kayadu Lohar plays the female lead opposite G V Prakash in the film. The supporting cast includes TM Karthik, Kumar Natarajan, Lollu Sabha Maaran, Aaditya Kathir, Arshu Maharjan, Pema Tsamchoe, and Sunita Shrestha.

On the technical front, the film has been produced by Arunkumar Dhanasekaran, with cinematography by Arun Radhakrishnan and music composed by Sam CS. Editing is handled by San Lokesh, art direction by Siva Sankar, stunt choreography by R. Sakthi Saravanan, and dance choreography by Sabarish.

What to Expect

A teaser released last year gave audiences a taste of the film's tonal range — opening on a light romantic note before pivoting sharply into horror. The film's 'U' certification and its blend of comedy, romance, and supernatural horror suggest it is positioned as a wide-audience release. With Canadian CG studios involved and a year of post-production behind it, 'Immortal' is among the more technically ambitious Tamil productions of the year.
