Chennai, Feb 1 (NationPress) Renowned director Gautham Menon has emphasized that his earlier remarks regarding the film Ennai Noki Paayum Thota, starring Dhanush, were misinterpreted and affirmed that it is indeed his creation.
The misunderstanding arose when Gautham Menon, during a light-hearted interview with a YouTube channel, made a quip about Ennai Noki Paayum Thota, which he both produced and directed. When inquired about the movie, the director humorously stated, “I forget that film. What film was that? I recall a song from that film.” Upon being reminded of his role in the production, he jokingly replied, “No, not me; somebody else did it.”
His playful comments were taken literally, leading many on social media to believe that the director had disowned his own film.
In a subsequent interview with another YouTube channel, Gautham Menon clarified the situation. He remarked, “I made that statement as a joke. It was my film. It was the only film that I couldn’t complete to the extent I envisioned. I jokingly said that because I had to finish shooting in five to 10 days what I had originally planned for 20 days. But people misconstrued that and thought Gautham Menon was claiming it’s not his film at all,” Gautham explained.
When asked whether he was dissatisfied with the film, Gautham responded, “Yes. Definitely not satisfied. I only made the first half of the film in a proper fashion. The first half was executed as intended, but we encountered numerous challenges during the second half. I could not secure the hero's dates as he was busy shooting for Vada Chennai. There was also a conflict between the producer and the hero, leaving me in a difficult position. I sought ways to complete the film. I could have walked away but I believe every film deserves to be released, and thus I worked towards its release.”
