Chennai, Feb 27 (NationPress) Renowned director Gautham Menon, whose highly acclaimed romantic film Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (VTV) recently celebrated its 15th anniversary, reminisced with humor about how Trisha, who portrayed the lead female role, was concerned that audiences might dislike her.
Despite her worries, Trisha’s character, Jessie, emerged as one of the most cherished characters among fans and cinephiles.
In a discussion about the film, Gautham shared that Trisha feared public backlash against her character towards the film's conclusion.
“Trisha, at the film's end, kept expressing, ‘I am cast as the villain in this movie. Gautham, you have made me the antagonist. Viewers are going to loathe me.' I reassured her saying, 'They may dislike you, but they will also adore you.' I vividly recall this conversation as if it were yesterday,” Gautham chuckled.
The esteemed director also fondly reflected on his inaugural partnership with A R Rahman.
“My initial collaboration with Rahman sir is something I will cherish forever because it was so magical. The inspiration I felt while shooting the songs after experiencing the magic unfold in his studio was profound. I remember sharing the music with a few friends at home, and my close-knit team celebrating the melodies even before they reached the public. Working with him was a dream come true. After waiting for so many years, I finally had the opportunity to collaborate on an album like Vinnaithaandi. I’m genuinely thrilled that people continue to watch and discuss the film,” Gautham added.
