Chennai, Feb 26 (NationPress) Celebrating the 15th anniversary of one of Tamil cinema's most cherished romantic films, Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (VTV), renowned director Gautham Menon revealed that he crafted the screenplay in a mere six days. In a viral video making its rounds on social media, Gautham remarked, “Fifteen years of VTV. At times, I ponder why 15 is significant. I also questioned the importance of 10. However, it brings me immense joy that audiences continue to reach out, sharing that they’ve experienced the film. They resonate with its essence, the atmosphere we've created, the characters portrayed, and their dialogues. The connection intensifies for those who have encountered similar situations in their own lives. That was the intention at the film's release.

“I immediately sensed that many would relate to the narrative. Numerous individuals have approached me in various places, sharing, ‘I’m Karthik, and this is my Jessie. Thank you for that.’”

Revealing that he penned the film in less than a week, Gautham expressed, “It holds a special place in my heart because I wrote it in approximately six days. Initially, it was intended for a prominent superstar. When he reviewed the script, he questioned, 'There’s no action. How will this work for me?' I vividly recall bringing it back to Simbu. I was initially hesitant to meet him. However, upon our meeting, I felt optimistic about the project.

Gautham further commented that without Simbu, he doubted whether the film's magic would have materialized. “Simbu’s grasp of what was required and his authentic performance were remarkable. There was no extensive discussion; he intuitively understood the needs and delivered seamlessly.”

Reflecting on the filmmaking experience, Gautham shared, “The entire process was a delight. People often say, 'We had a great time on set.' We are dedicated to our craft, and while it demands significant effort, we relished it. There were moments of laughter and anticipation for the next shooting day. Our journeys took us to Malta and New York. I am truly glad that viewers continue to enjoy and discuss the film.”
