Sarah Michelle Gellar Reveals 90s Trends She Dreads Seeing Again
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Los Angeles, March 23 (NationPress) Hollywood icon Sarah Michelle Gellar, celebrated for her roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and Cruel Intentions, has shared her thoughts on the 1990s trends she wishes would stay in the past.
During the world premiere screening of Ready or Not 2: Here I Come at SXSW in Austin, Texas, Gellar discussed the revival of '90s styles in contemporary fashion, as reported by people.com.
“To be honest, it’s all back in style right now,” she said when asked about any '90s trends she would welcome back.
Gellar also alluded to the popular new series Love Story, which focuses on the lives of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy and John F. Kennedy Jr.. The former worked at Calvin Klein and has recently gained attention as a style icon once more.
“I’m so glad I kept my Calvin Klein slip dresses. I really am,” she added.
Despite the nostalgic fashion comeback, she expressed her distaste for certain trends from that era.
“There are two styles I never want to see again: the thin eyebrows and chokers, as they just make it look like you have no neck,” she remarked.
Gellar also touched upon her marriage to Freddie Prinze Jr., with whom she tied the knot in 2002, and their two children, Charlotte, 16, and Rocky, 13.
“Our ongoing joke is that we have to look up our anniversary every year,” she quipped about her husband.
Furthermore, she discussed the canceled Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot, according to people.com.
Gellar had collaborated with director Chloé Zhao on the project, but they were informed on March 11 that the show would not proceed.
“No one anticipated this outcome,” she noted, revealing that a pilot episode had already been filmed.
“We had an executive involved who was not only unfamiliar with the original but also took pride in admitting they hadn’t watched the entire series,” she stated.
“The fans were my motivation for wanting to do it in the first place,” she continued. “It was to honor them and to be there for them because Buffy was about chosen family and belonging. It’s always been about acknowledging those fans.”
Despite the setback, Gellar remains optimistic and focused on her upcoming projects.
“I’ll keep my head held high and continue moving forward. That’s what Buffy Summers would do,” she affirmed.
In Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, Gellar portrays Ursula Danforth, a role in the sequel to the 2019 horror hit, sharing the screen with Samara Weaving, Kathryn Newton, Shawn Hatosy, David Cronenberg, and Elijah Wood.
