Chennai, Feb 17 (NationPress) As the creators of the iconic 2005 film Sachein, starring Tamil actor Vijay and Genelia D’Souza, gear up to commemorate the film’s 20th anniversary with a summer re-release, actress Genelia D’Souza expressed that the film has forever held a special place in her heart.

Referring to an announcement made by the film's producer, Kalaippuli S Thanu, Genelia shared on her X timeline, “Sachein - Has my heart always.”

Thanu replied to her post with a simple, “Thank you!” Initially, he had shared a poster promoting the re-release with the message, “A celebration this summer.”

In her response, Genelia thanked Thanu, saying, “Thank you sir for giving me Sachein and treating me so well throughout the shoot... One of my best shoots ever.

The film was a tremendous success upon its original release in 2005. Besides Genelia's lead role, the movie also featured another well-known actress.

Indeed, Bipasha Basu played the second leading lady in this film, which marked her debut in Tamil cinema.

Directed by John Mahendran, Sachein was a romantic comedy centered around the character Sachein, portrayed by Vijay, and his love interest, Shalini, played by Genelia. The film was a blockbuster, grossing four times its production costs.
