In a recent Instagram post, he reminisced about his debut film as an actor, "Taqdeer", released in 1967, where he starred alongside Bharat Bhushan, Shalini Mardolkar, Farida Jalal, and Johnny Walker.
Directed by A. Salaam, "Taqdeer" tells the poignant story of a struggling widow who is compelled to marry a man she despises for the sake of her children.
Reflecting on those early days, Ghai shared that both he and Jalal Agha, fresh graduates from The Pune Film Institute, were assigned minor roles in this film.
The creator of "Taal" even posted a vintage black-and-white image from the film, challenging fans to identify him.

Following his role in "Taqdeer", Ghai appeared in "Aradhana" in 1969 and took on lead roles in the 1970s with films like "Umang" and "Gumraah".
In 1976, he made his directorial debut with "Kalicharan".
Some of his acclaimed directorial works include "Vishwanath" (1978), "Gautam Govinda" (1979), "Karz" (1980), "Krodhi" (1981), "Hero" (1983), "Meri Jung" (1985), "Karma" (1986), "Ram Lakhan" (1989), "Trimurti" (1995), "Pardes" (1997), "Taal" (1999), and "Yaadein" (2001).
Though he took a hiatus from directing post "Yaadein", he made a comeback with "Black & White" in 2008, followed by "Yuvvraaj".
