New Delhi, April 10 (NationPress) Director-actor and singer Gippy Grewal has shared his excitement about collaborating with Bollywood director Karan Johar for his forthcoming film “Akaal: The Unconquered”, stating that he believes his film deserves to transcend conventional limits.

“We believe our film merits a broader audience, extending beyond the usual Punjabi cinema. Therefore, it should be presented in Hindi. Just as we enjoy Tamil and Telugu movies dubbed in Hindi, our films should also be accessible to a wider audience,” Gippy explained to IANS.

He expressed confidence in Karan, saying, “I don't think anyone is better suited than Karan Johar… We finalized everything in our first meeting. The next meeting with him progressed quickly.”

According to Gippy, with Karan's involvement, who is distributing the film under his banner Dharma Productions, the scope of the film has significantly expanded.

“Since then, we all feel the film has grown larger. Ultimately, a film's quality is paramount. Now, with Karan, our audience reach has broadened. Therefore, the film will resonate with more people. Ultimately, the film will perform as it should,” he stated.

“Akaal: The Unconquered,” which is set to release on April 10, is situated in the 1840s Punjab, narrating a tale of honor and tenacity, centering on Sardar Akaal Singh and his village as they confront a retaliatory assault led by Jangi Jahan and his troops following the demise of Maharaja Ranjeet Singh.

Born in Ludhiana, Punjab, Gippy made his acting debut in the 2010 film Mel Karade Rabba, later starring in Carry On Jatta, Lucky Di Unlucky Story, Bhaji in Problem, and Jatt James Bond. He co-owns production companies Humble Motion Pictures and Big Daddy Films with his brother Sippy Grewal.
