Hardik Thakkar Discusses His Fascination with 'Swipe Crime'

Mumbai, Dec 21 (NationPress) Actor Hardik Thakkar revealed that the title 'Swipe Crime' instantly captured his attention, motivating him to join the series.

Reflecting on his initial interest in the show, he stated: “The title immediately caught my eye. The concept of swiping, commonly associated with dating platforms like Tinder, combined with the crime aspect was intriguing from the beginning. It ignited my curiosity about the unfolding events.”

The show delves into the realm of dating apps and social media, which Hardik believes holds significant relevance today.

“A majority of young individuals are engaging with dating apps, placing their trust in strangers without fully understanding the risks,” he noted. “While these platforms can connect individuals with sincere intentions, there are always lurking dangers. The series is designed to enlighten viewers about these threats and promote awareness.”

Hardik emphasized the show’s role in educating the youth about the more ominous facets of social media.

“While young people are savvy, newcomers must be informed about the repercussions of excessive use of these applications. They need to learn to verify profiles instead of blindly accepting them,” he remarked.

The theme of validation is pivotal to the show, with Hardik pointing out that today’s youth seeks affirmation through social media interactions like likes and reels.

“We are inherently social beings, and now, the modern approach to seeking validation is through content creation. It’s a phenomenon that is transforming our connections with one another,” he explained.

Discussing his own encounters with the hazards of social media, Hardik recounted that prior to COVID-19, someone had created a fraudulent account of him on a dating application using his publicly available images.

He added: “This resulted in numerous misunderstandings with friends.”

As a performer, Hardik perceives social media as a double-edged sword.

“It fuels my creativity and motivates me to strive for more, but the incessant comparison regarding followers, likes, and superficial content can be quite frustrating,” he admitted.

Despite its downsides, he acknowledges that social media is a tool for maintaining connections.

“At times, it leaves me feeling disconnected from family and friends since everyone is online now. The time spent offline is diminishing. However, sharing reels and content has evolved into a new method of keeping in touch with others,” he mentioned.

Hardik underscores that there’s more at stake than mere online visibility, asserting that it is the craft that holds true significance.

“As an actor, your craft is paramount. Social media may assist in securing work, but the ability to perform and maintain one's principles is essential,” he concluded.

“Swipe Crime” can be streamed on Amazon MX Player.
