Ronit Ashra Describes ‘Swipe Crime’ as a Chance to Examine the Intricacies of the Digital Era

Mumbai, Dec 26 (NationPress) Actor Ronit Ashra has shared insights about his recent venture, ‘Swipe Crime.’ He views the series as a distinctive chance to investigate the intricacies and challenges of the digital era.
Ashra emphasized the influence of technology and social media on contemporary relationships and society. In this series, Ashra, portraying Nikhil Saxena, navigates the darker aspects of online interactions, providing viewers a more profound awareness of the risks that can accompany digital platforms.
Reflecting on the show, Ronit stated, “The first time I encountered the title Swipe Crime after the revisions, it struck me as the final piece in a jigsaw puzzle.” He continued, “The term ‘Crime’ immediately suggests a thriller, while the swipe feature links it to dating apps. However, the series encompasses much more; it reveals both the filtered and unfiltered truths of social media.”
Ronit also shared that he personally resonates with the themes presented in the show.
“We live in an age of DMs and swift matches. While social media can unite people, it also harbors a more sinister side. We’re tackling issues like catfishing and the pressure to constantly create content. My hope is that this series enlightens viewers about these perils,” he elaborated.
Discussing his role, the actor remarked, “Nikhil’s perfectionism, anxiety regarding assignments, and occasional anger are characteristics that many can relate to. He harbors a fear of authority yet champions his principles. I’ve felt similar emotions, which made the character particularly meaningful for me. Engaging with this project has been a transformative journey.”
Ronit Ashra attributed his confidence and artistic opportunities to the influence of social media.
“Nevertheless, I’ve witnessed its dangers up close, such as when my TikTok account was compromised in 10th grade. It truly is a double-edged sword,” he added.
On a related note, ‘Swipe Crime,’ directed by Harsh Mainra, delves into the complexities of college life intertwined with a dark and nefarious digital scam. The series also features Malvika Raj, Sanyam Sharma, Abhishek Singh Rajput, Faisal Malik, Rishab Chadha, and others.
The show premiered on Amazon MX Player on December 20.
