Mumbai, May 12 (NationPress) As the tensions between India and Pakistan escalate due to India's ongoing retaliatory operation, Operation Sindoor, the fallout is reaching the entertainment industry of the subcontinent.
Indian actor Harshvardhan Rane and Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane have found themselves in a contentious social media confrontation over their nationalism.
On Sunday, Harshvardhan delivered a sharp response to Mawra after she directed comments at him.
She remarked, “Someone I expected to have basic common sense has risen from deep slumber with a PR strategy. While our nations are at war, this is what you come up with? A PR statement to get attention? What a pity.”
In a composed yet assertive reply, Harshvardhan took to his Instagram Stories, stating, “That sounded like an attempt at a personal attack. Fortunately, I have the tolerance to overlook such attempts - but I have zero tolerance for any affront to my nation's dignity. An Indian farmer would uproot the unwanted weeds from his crop; it's called WEEDING. The farmer doesn't need a PR team for this act, it’s called common sense (sic).”
He emphasized that he did not intend to offend her, asserting his right to withdraw from projects he finds inappropriate.
He added, “I simply offered to step down from Part 2. I am fully within my rights to choose not to collaborate with individuals who describe my country's actions as ‘cowardly’. So much hostility in her speech, so many personal attacks, I never mentioned her name or resorted to name-calling. I did not undermine her dignity as a woman. I aim to maintain that standard.”
