Mumbai, Jan 3 (NationPress) The talented actress Hema Malini has delivered a moving tribute to her mother, Jaya Lakshmi, on her birthday. In a deeply emotional message, Hema articulated her love, respect, and appreciation for the woman who has profoundly influenced her life.
On her Instagram page, the ‘Sholay’ star shared a treasured memory from their Kathak dance practice and captioned it, “This is the day of the year that is dearest to my heart!”
Hema remarked, “It’s my darling mother’s birthday, a day I always celebrate, expressing my gratitude for everything she has done for me. Her incredible character and the connections she established with everyone she encountered, in the industry and beyond, have shaped my career and contributed to who I am today. Thank you, Amma. I love you. #mother #happybirthday.”
In response to Hema’s touching message, her daughter and fellow actress Esha Deol left a heart and folded hands emoji in the comments section.
Hema's mother, Jaya Chakravarthy, was a celebrated producer and costume designer. The previous year, the actress also crafted a lovely note to celebrate her mother’s birthday.
Hema expressed, “Today holds special significance for me! It is my darling mother's janam din—a day I honor every year since she departed from me. I reflect deeply on this day, remembering how much she has contributed to my life and career, and how I owe her everything I am today. Thank you, Amma. My love is eternal.”
On the professional side, Hema made her acting debut in 1963 with the Tamil film “Idhu Sathiyam” and later entered Hindi cinema with the 1968 movie “Sapno Ka Saudagar.” Her latest on-screen appearance was in the 2020 film “Shimla Mirchi,” alongside Rajkummar Rao and Rakul Preet Singh.
Alongside her acting career, she presently serves as a member of the Lok Sabha, representing Mathura for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
