Chennai, Sep 4 (NationPress) Anushka Shetty, a prominent figure in Telugu cinema, is preparing for the launch of her highly anticipated action film 'Ghatti'. During a recent press interaction, she expressed her eagerness to portray a completely negative character if a compelling opportunity arises.
The actress, marking her 20-year journey in the industry, was queried about roles she desires to explore. She confidently stated, "I want to do an out-and-out negative character. If a strong character comes along, I will definitely do a negative role."
Discussing her character in Ghatti, which premieres this Friday, Anushka remarked, "The character of Sheelavathi in Ghatti is amazing. I have never done a character like this before. It's a character with many beautiful shades and this is a film that goes beyond the comfort zone." She further noted that she has portrayed powerful roles in films like Arundhati, Rudramadevi, Baahubali, and Bhagamati, but this role also carries a unique dimension. "Every woman, although she looks simple and delicate, stands like a strong pillar when a situation arises. That is a great quality in women," she added, commending director Krish for crafting such a robust character.
Having previously collaborated with Krish on the successful film Vedam, expectations for Ghatti are understandably high. When Anushka was asked if Ghatti could meet these expectations, she confidently replied, "Absolutely. We thought of making a film as a continuation of Saroja's role in Vedam. But we were waiting for a story to come organically. At such a time, a wonderful story like Ghatti came to fruition." She expressed gratitude towards Krish for consistently providing her with remarkable roles, stating that "The character of Sheelavathi in this will remain in my filmography forever."
Much of Ghatti was filmed in challenging mountainous terrains, necessitating significant physical effort from the cast. Anushka shared, "Most of the films I have done involve hard work. I had to put in hard work in Ghatti as well. But shooting in such new locations was very exciting. Moreover, Krish had planned the shooting very well. Shooting in such new locations is a memorable experience."
Finally, on her upcoming projects, Anushka disclosed, "I'm listening to new scripts. There's a good line-up. I'm doing a film in Malayalam. It will be my first Malayalam film. There will be a new film announcement in Telugu as well. That will also be very interesting."
