Atharvaa Murali's much-anticipated romantic drama 'Idhayam Murali', directed by Aakash Baskaran, is set for a worldwide theatrical release on 10 July 2025. Production house Dawn Pictures confirmed the date on its official X account, marking one of Tamil cinema's most eagerly awaited releases of the summer.

The announcement follows a string of pre-release reveals that have steadily built audience anticipation. Earlier this month, the makers released a Behind The Scenes video to celebrate Atharvaa's birthday.

Fahadh Faasil Joins the Cast

In a surprise disclosure, the makers confirmed that acclaimed Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil is part of the film. Dawn Pictures announced his involvement with a video clip showing Faasil on set and interacting with the crew, writing: 'When FaFa illuminated the sets of #IdhayamMurali. The one and only #FahadhFaasil features in the @AakashBaskaran directorial, coming to cinemas this summer.' The casting adds significant cross-industry appeal to the project.

The Film's Emotional Core

At the title launch event held at St Joseph's Institute of Technology in Chennai, Atharvaa dedicated the film to unrequited love. Addressing a gathering of students, he said: 'The joy, the sadness, the disappointment that one experiences in one-side love is much more significant than what one experiences in a double-side love relationship and is unforgettable in life. We wanted to showcase all this and dedicate a film to one-side love.'

The title carries personal resonance — 'Idhayam Murali' echoes the cult classic 'Idhayam', one of the biggest hits of Atharvaa's father, veteran actor Murali. Atharvaa clarified, however, that the title was not chosen as a tribute. 'In the film, I have an Idhayam Murali within me. I have a one-side love. Likewise, I know there must be an Idhayam Murali in all of you,' he said.

Teaser, Cast, and Crew

The teaser introduces Atharvaa's character — also named Idhayam Murali — as a young man based in New York who is called back to India for his own wedding. The sequence sets up a narrative anchored in longing and unresolved emotion. Alongside Atharvaa, the film stars Preity Mukhundhan and Kayadu Lohar in lead roles, with Natty, Niharika NM, Rakshan, Dravid, Angeline, Pragya, Sudhakar, and Yashashree in supporting parts.

Notably, top music director Thaman returns to acting with this film — his first on-screen appearance since director Shankar's 'Boys' — while also composing the film's score. Cinematography is handled by Manoj Paramahamsa, editing by Pradeep E Ragav, and the film is co-directed by Senthilkumar Kesavan. Dialogues are by Ramanagirivasan, Aakash Baskaran, and Dravid Selvam.
