Mumbai, March 9 (NationPress) Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan, who recently starred in ‘Jawan’, now has a new luxurious space dedicated to him at this year's International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA).
The specially crafted suite is the brainchild of designer Shantanu Garg. He was not given any formal brief, allowing him full creative control to fashion a space befitting Bollywood’s biggest star. Such artistic freedom is a rare opportunity.
Taking inspiration from the Art Deco movement, the design reflects the golden age of cinema.
Shantanu elaborated on his vision, stating, “I aimed for the suite to feel like an extension of his world—a fusion of luxury, heritage, and timeless elegance. The Art Deco style was ideal as it captures the grandeur of classic Bollywood yet maintains a contemporary feel. Each detail was meticulously curated to create an experience beyond mere accommodation. Trunks Company Jaipur contributed unique storage trunks that added a vintage flair, while Jaipur Rugs supplied antique carpets that grounded the space in a sense of old-world charm.”
He continued, “Custom soft furnishings, including plush bed linens, robes, and towels, were crafted by Golden Drape for an indulgent sensory experience. Attitudes India provided striking Art Deco-inspired furniture and vanities with deep red hues reminiscent of classic theaters. Additionally, internationally sourced pieces from Villa Interieur infused a global flair.”
When Shantanu finally met Shah Rukh Khan, it was a moment he will forever treasure. He recalled, “Despite his superstar status, he was incredibly humble and warm. His appreciation for craftsmanship was extraordinary—he noticed everything from the monogrammed bed linens to the handcrafted trunks and Art Deco furniture.”
One item that particularly intrigued SRK was a rare antique rock crystal bowl, adorned with the Arabic phrase ‘Mashallah’. The designer remarked, “It was heartwarming to see him engage with such thoughtful details.”
