Although details about the film remain scarce, reports indicate that Imtiaz Ali’s latest venture is set to explore the nuances of an extramarital affair, diving into the emotional complexities faced by the characters. It is also noted that this film is just one of three projects lined up by Imtiaz Ali. Following this, he plans to create a romantic comedy tentatively called “Idiots of Istanbul”, starring Fahadh Faasil and Triptii Dimri.
In addition to Avinash Tiwary and Aditi Rao Hydari, the untitled drama will reportedly feature Arjun Rampal and Ahsaas Channa in significant supporting roles. If these reports are accurate, this will mark the inaugural collaboration between Imtiaz Ali and Arjun Rampal.
For those who may not know, Imtiaz Ali previously collaborated with Avinash Tiwary in the 2018 romantic film “Laila Majnu”. He also directed Aditi Rao Hydari in the 2011 film “Rockstar”.
Moreover, Imtiaz Ali has partnered with acclaimed directors Kabir Khan, Rima Das, and Onir for the upcoming anthology “My Melbourne”. This film consists of four narratives that tackle important issues such as race, gender, sexuality, and disability, and is scheduled to premiere in India on March 14.
Reflecting on the anthology's significance, Imtiaz Ali stated, “Cinema is a bridge that unites cultures, and My Melbourne is a testament to that. Each filmmaker has brought a distinct flavor to this anthology, making it an emotional and thought-provoking journey.”
He further noted that it is uncommon to witness a project that so seamlessly integrates multiple narratives while adhering to a collective vision of inclusivity.
The recently unveiled trailer for “My Melbourne” presents the four stories titled “Nandini”, “Jules”, “Emma”, and “Setara”.
