In a recent post on his X timeline, Shekhar shared an observation from his drive between Delhi and Mussoorie, where he was struck by the numerous signboards advertising coaching classes.
The creator of 'Mr. India' disclosed that the aspiration for a certificate, seen as a pathway to secure a good job, has transformed coaching classes into a booming $25 billion industry.
He stated, "The informal and unregulated education sector in India, including coaching classes, is valued at approximately $25 billion. This industry spans both urban and rural areas, where parents from the middle and lower classes are increasingly eager for their children to obtain certificates that validate their education... a mere certificate! This is perceived as a means to potentially land a job... potentially gain employment... but all potentially."
Shekhar emphasized that AI can deliver similar educational content from the comfort of one's home at a significantly lower cost; however, it lacks the provision of a certificate.
"Why is a certificate necessary? Because every job recruitment process demands it... Job? Recruitment? Certificate? AI is poised to not only revolutionize recruitment practices but also redefine the essence of employment," he remarked.
