Mumbai, May 31 (NationPress) Bollywood actor Ishaan Khatter, who stars in the streaming series 'The Royals', is championing the often-overlooked backbone of the film industry—the writer community that creates the narratives brought to life on screen.
As Bollywood films struggle at the box office, the screenwriter community is significantly impacted by this downturn.
In a recent conversation with IANS, Ishaan emphasized the urgent need for Bollywood to undertake cost restructuring and ensure that writers receive fair compensation.
He stated, “The dialogue is what fuels transformation. As actors, we owe our craft to writers. It’s essential to start acknowledging and crediting them. We must begin by restoring power to writers, as without them, there would be no roles for actors.”
Ishaan reminisced about the power held by legendary screenwriter duo Salim-Javed in the past.
“There were individuals like Salim-Javed who wrote their names on posters to remind audiences where it all began. We should celebrate this legacy, not view it as a burden. The more appreciation we offer to our writers, the more enriched our stories will become. And that’s what we urgently require right now—more writers,” he elaborated.
Earlier, Ishaan shared a lighthearted behind-the-scenes moment with Nora Fatehi from the sets of 'The Royals', revealing how the actress saved her contact in his phone. Posting on Instagram stories, Ishaan shared a fun image of them wrapped in towels.
He captioned it, “I can’t believe I forgot to include Nora Fatehi in the BTS collection, or should I say ‘Nora Da… queen’ as she saved her contact herself (sic). We had an amazing time and got to dance a little.”
Nora, tagging it as her favorite image, reposted it with the comment, “OMG this pic, my favorite! And yes, that’s my name.”
She also shared an image of herself in a saree holding the clapboard for the series. 'The Royals' features an ensemble cast including Bhumi Pednekar, Sakshi Tanwar, Dino Morea, Milind Soman, Chunky Panday, Vihaan Samat, Kavya Trehan, Sumukhi Suresh, Udit Arora, and Luke Kenny.
The show is available for streaming on Netflix.
