Los Angeles, Feb 23 (NationPress) Oscar-winning actress Jamie Lee Curtis expressed that she has never prioritized "looking beautiful" in her film roles.

During an interview with Empire magazine, Lee Curtis remarked: "Being pretty in films has never been my focus. It's simply not a part of who I am; it hasn't been my strength. Whether others perceive me as attractive or not, I never considered myself a great beauty that the camera would adore."

She noted: "Recently, I've had the opportunity to portray characters that have liberated me from any vanity, allowing me to fully embrace my artistry – because at that point, it’s all about the work. That's always been my aspiration."

In her latest film, 'The Last Showgirl', Curtis embodies the character of former showgirl Annette and had a distinct vision for her on-screen persona, which also features Pamela Anderson, as reported by femalefirst.co.uk.

She elaborated: "I envisioned her as someone who has spent every day under the sun for the last 40 years. I wanted her to be a bottle redhead, with a dye job that looked far from perfect."

"The rust-colored suede jacket was essential to me – I wanted her to possess something valuable enough to pawn, but that she continuously retrieved from the pawn shop.”

“She owned nothing of significant worth, except that one jacket, which she often had to hock for 50 bucks to cover her rent or debt from gambling or other expenses."

"I’m very detailed, yet I bring a full commitment to my roles."

Lee Curtis highlighted her close collaboration with the prop department to ensure her portrayal feels as "authentic" as possible.

She stated: "I purchase her purse, wallet, and glasses. I work very closely with the prop department. It must feel genuine. It has to resemble a purse that I’ve carried for a long time, like a jacket I’ve worn for ages."

The actress's recent projects include 'Everything Everywhere All at Once' and 'The Bear', and she is pleased to have surprised viewers with a varied array of characters.

She concluded: "I shattered the mood boards because I’m not what you envision. That’s the core of it: I’m not who you think I am. Allow me to show you. I am vastly more than your assumptions."
