Kochi, Feb 4 (NationPress) Janardhanan, renowned for his baritone voice in Malayalam cinema, is returning to the industry following a brief hiatus.

The 78-year-old actor has resumed his career, marking a remarkable 54 years in the industry, and is currently the most active senior figure in Mollywood.

With an impressive record of over 700 films, he remains a vibrant presence.

Famed for his distinct voice, Janardhanan has been a source of inspiration for mimicry artists, who take great pleasure in recreating his iconic film dialogues.

In a conversation with IANS, Janardhanan, who recently relocated to a new residence in Kerala’s commercial hub, Kochi, shared that his previous home, where he lived for nearly thirty years, was quite large, and his daughter struggles to maintain it.

"After a brief pause from my career, I am thrilled to be back to what I love most. I have signed a few films and feel fortunate to continue my work as long as possible," expressed Janardhanan, in his signature voice.

While he gained acclaim for villainous roles, it was his comedic performances that revealed his versatility, bringing joy to audiences who enjoyed seeing the 'bad boy' Janardhanan transition to comedic roles.

Despite aging challenges, he has successfully navigated through them using his baritone voice, transitioning seamlessly from villain to comedic roles, and proving to be a director’s favorite for character roles.

Originally from Vaikom in the Kottayam district, Janardhanan had a brief period in the Indian Air Force before pursuing a B.Com degree, where he discovered his passion for acting and moved to Chennai. "I spent only about three years in the Air Force, after which I pursued my degree and realized my true calling was acting, leading me to Chennai. Once I arrived, I never looked back and have continued my journey for over five decades," he laughed, a sound that has become iconic among mimicry artists.
