Los Angeles, March 6 (NationPress) Hollywood icon Jane Fonda revealed that she managed to drive a wild bear out of her grandson's nursery after it intruded into the room.
The 87-year-old actress was a guest on an episode of Netflix's podcast Skip Intro, where she joined her son, actor Troy O'Donovan Garity. When asked what people might not know about his famous mother, Troy decided to recount this thrilling tale.
“She pushed a bear out of her bedroom,” the actor, who is the son of Fonda and her late ex-husband Tom Hayden, shared with podcast host Krista Smith.
Fonda nodded in agreement, as reported by people.com.
During this incident, Fonda was residing “out in the wild” in New Mexico while caring for her grandson, who is now 25. The two-time Oscar winner has two grandchildren, Malcolm and Viva Vadim, from her eldest child, Vanessa Vadim.
“She heard a noise, so she got out of bed in the middle of the night to investigate,” Troy recounted.
“When she returned, the screen door was torn apart and a bear was in the bedroom, sniffing around the crib.”
Curious and a bit anxious, Smith turned to Fonda and asked, “What did you do?” The actress responded without hesitation.
“Roar!” she exclaimed loudly and raised her arms to appear larger.
After Troy humorously apologized to the “sound guy” for his mother’s loudness, Fonda elaborated that she had recently learned how to react when encountering a bear.
She added, “And that was it. I had to make myself look really big; I opened my bathrobe.”
Though she successfully frightened the bear away, protecting her then-infant grandson Malcolm, who is now 25, the home wasn’t left completely unharmed as the bear urinated “on the rug,” Fonda noted.
“And then it walked back to the door and sat down, and yes, I did push it out,” she remembered.
