Did Jubin Nautiyal Connect with ‘Barbaad’ Instantly?

Mumbai, June 21 (NationPress) Acclaimed playback singer Jubin Nautiyal shared his immediate affinity for the track “Barbaad” that Mohit Suri presented to him for the forthcoming film “Saiyaara”. The recording process was seamless and natural.

When asked about how everything fell into place, Nautiyal recounted to IANS: “Initially, I was unaware that it was a YRF film. I received a call from Mohit, who expressed his desire for me to sing a song he believed was tailored for me, though at that moment, I didn't realize how perfectly it suited me.”

The singer noted that upon recording, he experienced the song for the first time.

“I didn’t need to listen to it beforehand to decide if I wanted to sing it; Mohit’s reputation for delivering exceptional music speaks for itself. So, once I began singing, I fell in love with it immediately.”

He described how the vocals effortlessly aligned with the music: “It just fit in my throat; there was no struggle at all.”

“There was no challenging moment where I felt the need to push myself harder or sing more softly; it just flowed naturally.”

Reflecting on a minor error, Nautiyal mentioned: “The only mistake I made initially was interpreting it as a sad song, which is how I began to sing it. Mohit then advised me, 'I love your tone, but sing it with a happier vibe; these characters are in love.' That completely shifted my perspective.”

“So, I adapted and sang it again, and I believe it turned out well.”

“It just worked out perfectly. When we listened to it for the first time, we realized we had something special—a song that would resonate with many.”

The “Raataan Lambiyan” hitmaker expressed his excitement over the overwhelming response, stating that listeners are enjoying it repeatedly.

“People are picking up guitars to play it. It reminds me of the days when the music from ‘Zeher’ was released. I felt compelled to pick up my guitar and sing along.”

He added, “That’s the kind of magic this song is creating—and Mohit has consistently delivered such experiences.”

After the song was finalized, Nautiyal discovered it was part of Yash Raj Films’ Saiyaara.

“Once the song was complete and sounding fantastic, I inquired about the project, and I was thrilled to learn that it was with Yash Raj—‘It’s going to be a banger!’ he said.

“This is the type of project that excites me.”

The film features debutant Ahaan Panday alongside actress Aneet Padda. “Saiyaara” is produced by YRF’s CEO Akshaye Widhani and is scheduled for release on July 18.
