Kalki Koechlin Discusses the Strain of Horror Projects on Her Nerves
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, March 22 (NationPress) Actress Kalki Koechlin, preparing for the launch of her upcoming streaming series ‘Anarth’, has opened up about her ventures into the horror genre.
This will be her second horror series following the recent release of ‘Bhay: The Gaurav Tiwari Mystery’. In an interview with IANS, Kalki revealed that participating in consecutive horror projects has been a notable challenge for her nervous system.
She stated, “Horror has proven to be a challenge from a nervous system standpoint, particularly in Anarth, where my role required a frantic and depressed energy that isn’t simple to maintain over two months of shooting.”
Kalki added, “Fortunately, we had a fantastic team, and everyone excelled at bringing the series to life. Be prepared as this one is sure to give you sleepless nights.”
Previously, Kalki mentioned that the fictional aspect of her character Irena in ‘Bhay: The Gaurav Tiwari Mystery’ provided them with emotional access without distorting reality. She further explained that although Gaurav's character was inspired by a real individual, her character was born from the writer's imagination, granting them a certain creative freedom.
She commented, “Irene is a fictional character, but Gaurav and the Indian Paranormal Society were indeed real. In fact, the Indian Paranormal Society still operates today. This allowed us some freedom in how we approached the supernatural elements while remaining grounded in reality.”
What intrigued Kalki about the show was its narrative style, stating, “What I found appealing about the show is its ability to shift between past and present simultaneously. You’re not merely witnessing an investigation; you’re experiencing how history, memory, and unresolved questions intertwine with the present.”
In the meantime, ‘Anarth’ is set to stream on Prime Video.
