How do films like ‘Taare Zameen Par’ shape awareness?

Mumbai, May 2 (NationPress) Actress Kalki Koechlin emphasized that the shifting media landscape has rendered impactful, nuanced storytelling more accessible to a broader audience. She believes there is an increasing opportunity for artistically daring films that can still reach and influence many.

When asked if she perceives a growing opportunity for films that are both artistically bold and widely enjoyed, Kalki shared with IANS: “I truly think that the media landscape has evolved and is continuously evolving.”

“The reality is that even the smallest village can now access streaming platforms that provide a stunning variety of storytelling. When considering the strength of storytelling, reflect on how every individual in any village is now aware of dyslexia thanks to ‘Taare Zameen Par’.

Launched in 2007 and directed by Aamir Khan, “Taare Zameen Par” delves into the life and creativity of Ishaan, an 8-year-old boy with artistic talent whose lackluster academic performance leads his parents to send him to a boarding school. There, a new art teacher, Nikumbh, suspects he is dyslexic and assists him in overcoming his reading challenges.

Kalki further stated: “The potency of storytelling is paramount. I believe we have undeniably observed a progression in the intricacies and scripts being developed, but there is always potential for enhancement.”

Looking ahead, Kalki will soon appear in “Bhay: The Gaurav Tiwari Mystery,” which is reportedly based on real events surrounding the life and findings of the late Gaurav Tiwari, India’s most celebrated paranormal investigator. The series also features Karan Tacker, Danish Sood, and Saloni Batra.

A real-life paranormal investigator, Gaurav Tiwari dedicated his life to uncovering the mysteries of the unseen, filled with spine-chilling encounters and eerie revelations. Now, in ‘Bhay’, his journey is depicted on screen, as Karan embodies Tiwari’s legacy and thrilling experiences.

Kalki made her Hindi film debut as Chanda in the dark comedy-drama Dev.D. She later starred in two of the highest-grossing Hindi films, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Additionally, she starred in and co-wrote the crime thriller That Girl in Yellow Boots.

Her success continued with the supernatural thriller Ek Thi Daayan, Gully Boy, and Margarita with a Straw.

Kalki was last seen in the 2023 film Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, a coming-of-age buddy drama directed by Arjun Varain Singh.
