Chennai, April 19 (NationPress) Acknowledging the fans as the key reason for reuniting with director Mani Ratnam for a film, actor Kamal Haasan expressed that their project, 'Thug Life', serves as a peace offering to both fans and viewers.

After nearly 38 years, actor Kamal Haasan and director Mani Ratnam are collaborating on 'Thug Life', their second film together following the cult classic 'Nayagan', which was also a major success.

During the launch of the film’s first single, Kamal Haasan commented, "Nothing has changed between Mani (Ratnam) and myself. We used to converse while parked on motorbikes on Eldams Road. We have achieved about 25 percent of what we envisioned. One is 'Nayagan' and the other is 'Thug Life'. We still have much more to accomplish. We dream big, then tailor it to suit our market and budget."

He acknowledged that both he and Mani Ratnam share the blame for their delayed collaboration.

"Let me explain why we haven’t partnered in all these years. It's us. The reason we're collaborating now is because of you. In our industry, when a name is proposed, the math is quickly calculated. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. But when the public makes a judgment, everyone from exhibitors to distributors bows down. Isn’t that how new stars are born?" he queried.

The legendary actor stated, "This film is a peace offering, and we take responsibility for not realizing that you (the fans, audiences) have been supporting both of us all along. We sincerely apologize for that."

'Thug Life', directed by Mani Ratnam, stars Kamal Haasan in the lead role. The film will also feature actors Silambarasan, Trisha, Joju George, Ashok Selvan, and Abhirami in significant roles.

The complete audio launch for the film is scheduled for May 16. Additionally, a musical event will occur in Australia, with the entire 'Thug Life' team expected to be present.

Kamal Haasan portrays a character named Rangaraya Sakthivel Naickan in this film, which Mani Ratnam’s production house, Madras Talkies, has described as 'an epic tale of power, rebellion, and triumph.'

The film features music by A R Rahman, cinematography by Ravi K Chandran, editing by Mani Ratnam's trusted editor Sreekar Prasad, and stunts coordinated by stuntmasters Anbariv.
