Mumbai, Feb 28 (NationPress) After a prolonged five-year legal struggle, actor-turned-MP Kangana Ranaut and lyricist Javed Akhtar have successfully reached a mutually agreeable resolution in their defamation lawsuits against one another.
On Friday, the ‘Queen’ actress took to Instagram to announce the resolution of her legal conflict with Javed. Sharing a photo of the two, Ranaut stated, “Today Javed ji and I have resolved our legal matter (defamation case) through mediation. During this mediation, Javed ji displayed great kindness and generosity. He has also consented to compose songs for my upcoming directorial venture.”
Following a protracted legal battle that encompassed 40 hearings, the Bharatiya Janata Party MP finally made her appearance at Bandra Court today regarding the defamation case initiated by Javed Akhtar. The case, initially presented at Andheri Metropolitan Court, was subsequently moved to Bandra Court.
Reports indicate that the actress faced mounting pressure from the court to appear in person, especially after her absence from previous hearings. During the most recent hearing, Bandra Court issued an ultimatum to Kangana, warning that a non-bailable warrant would be issued against her if she failed to appear. The court emphasized that this was her final opportunity to attend, and neglecting to do so would lead to further legal repercussions.
The legal dispute between Kangana and Javed originated in 2020, following an interview the actress conducted with a news channel after the tragic demise of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
