In her caption, Kareena expressed: “My Samu and Kiu, your dad is protecting you always and forever.”
This heartfelt note comes during a contentious legal struggle over his estimated Rs 30,000 crore estate. Sunjay Kapur passed away in June, following a heart attack that occurred after he accidentally swallowed a bee.
On October 15, the Delhi High Court witnessed a dramatic hearing regarding the estate dispute of the late industrialist Sunjay Kapur.
The tension escalated as Priya Kapur’s legal defense faltered, with her lawyer, Rajiv Nayar, facing difficulties in justifying a Will that is fraught with inconsistencies. Justice Jyoti Singh, overseeing the case, critically questioned the claims made by Priya Sachdeva through her representation.
Priya's attorney relied on technical objections, arguing that Sunjay’s children, Samaira and Kiaan, had not formally contested the Will in their partition suit. However, Justice Singh debunked his procedural arguments.
Her observations indicated that Rajiv’s points centered on form over substance, inadequately addressing the significant doubts surrounding the document dated March 21, 2025, which allegedly allocates the majority of Sunjay’s assets to his third wife, Priya.
In response, Rajiv claimed that the Will was merely read to them. Justice Singh pressed further, questioning, “How could they be expected to challenge something they hadn’t even seen?”
The purportedly forged Will, central to the dispute, contains numerous glaring errors and was signed shortly before Sunjay Kapur's passing, a detail notable given his meticulous nature.
Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, representing actress Karisma Kapoor's children, stated in court, “These are not mere oversights. They are the unmistakable signs of forgery, a hand unacquainted with the individual it purports to represent.”
He asserted that the Will was “false in spirit and intent,” created to exclude Sunjay’s own children and mother from his legacy.
Both children have accused Priya Kapur of manipulating the Will in a bid to seize the entirety of the estate. In their petition to the Delhi High Court, the siblings requested that one-fifth of the property be allocated to each, as they are the rightful heirs of Sunjay Kapur.
The children have conveyed through their legal teams that they maintained consistent communication with their father via regular meetings, visits, stays, vacations, video and voice calls, and messages, both individually and in various WhatsApp groups.
