Los Angeles, Oct 16 (NationPress) Hollywood icon Julia Roberts recently shared how the 1986 classic Stand by Me left a lasting impression on her daughter, Hazel, during her formative years.

Stand By Me, directed by Rob Reiner and featuring actors such as Jerry O’Connell, Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, and Corey Feldman, tells the story of a group of friends in 1959 who embark on a journey to find a deceased body.

In an interview with The New York Times while promoting her latest movie, After the Hunt, Roberts remarked: “I think people don’t realize how much they miss talking.”

The actress, who shares 20-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus along with 18-year-old son Henry Daniel with her husband Danny Moder, reminisced: “I recall when we introduced them to Stand by Me, our daughter offered, 'I'm going to give you my phone.' I asked, 'What should I do with it?'”

Roberts added that Hazel simply responded: “Just keep it.”

According to Roberts, her daughter expressed, “I don’t want it.” She then reflected on how watching the film made Hazel realize that if the boys had phones, they wouldn’t engage in meaningful conversations or embark on their adventure.

Roberts stated that Hazel recognized how technology could disrupt genuine interactions: “All that’s to say, we love talking to each other and sometimes we forget how vital it is,” she added, as reported by people.com.

During a 2023 appearance on Today, Roberts discussed her approach to managing her children’s technology use at home when they were younger: “We implemented simple rules, like a charging station for phones upon returning home. No phones at the dinner table, for sure,” she explained.

Even though her children are now adults, Roberts expressed her gratitude for her older kids, stating that they continue to allow her to be an attentive mom without any eye-rolling, showcasing a deep understanding between them.
