Mumbai, Oct 16 (NationPress) The acclaimed Indian filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, recognized for his works such as ‘Black Friday’, ‘Paanch’, and ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, appears to be facing a challenging moment. The director-actor, whose latest project was ‘Nishaanchi’, has updated his Instagram bio.

He expressed his sentiments by stating, “Ab time chala gaya, fillam bhi chali gayi. Main bhi (The time has gone, the film too came and went. I’m on the same path as well).”

Though he hasn’t elaborated on the implications of his words, it’s notable that he hasn’t achieved a significant hit since ‘Manmarziyaan’ or produced a cult classic after ‘Ugly’. His recent film ‘Nishaanchi’ also did not perform well at the box office. While his upcoming film ‘Kennedy’ awaits release, it faces a fate similar to that of his first film ‘Paanch’, which never saw the light of day.

Additionally, Kashyap often finds himself amidst controversies. The struggle for recognition, compounded by ongoing disputes, seems to have affected his morale.

Earlier this year, he was embroiled in a controversy following remarks he made about the Brahmin community. The backlash ensued after he responded to criticism of ‘Phule’, a biopic on prominent social reformers Jyotirao Phule and Savitribai Phule. His comment, perceived by many as casteist, sparked significant outrage online, leading to calls for legal action.

In the aftermath, Kashyap's daughter, Aaliyah, along with his family and colleagues, received threats from online trolls. Legal action was taken against him, including an FIR filed in Jaipur for his abusive remarks towards the community.

Following the uproar, he posted an apology on Instagram, vowing to be more mindful with his words in the future.

He wrote in Hindi, “I lost my temper while responding to someone. I spoke poorly of the entire Brahmin community, which has been part of my life. I sincerely apologize to the community, my family, and society for my words. I’ll work on my anger and ensure this doesn’t happen again. If I address the issue again, I will choose my words carefully. I hope for your forgiveness.”
