Mumbai, Dec 19 (NationPress) Director Anurag Kashyap has shared that he has become accustomed to the setbacks of his films.
At the teaser launch event for "Dacoit", featuring co-stars Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur, where he plays the role of a courageous and unyielding police officer named Swamy, Kashyap was questioned about the box office shortcomings of his recent directorial project, "Nishaanchi".
The director was queried, "You've had other releases this year in various roles—producer, presenter, and now actor. Your directorial project, Nishaanchi, was a passion project, and like many of your films, it gains a cult following over time. Do you feel disappointed with the film's box office performance?"
Kashyap humorously replied, "No, no, I'm used to it," prompting laughter from the audience.
"I’m accustomed to this because I perhaps anticipated a bit more, thinking the audience and I share a passion for cinema. But I realized this quite quickly," he elaborated.
The visionary behind 'Gangs of Wasseypur' continued, "We decided to combine both parts of the film for OTT release since it was produced by Amazon and had already garnered some viewership. I'm quite pleased with how it turned out on OTT."
Earlier, Kashyap disclosed that “Nishaanchi” was initially titled “Babloo Nishaanchi.”
He explained how the film’s title was altered before settling on "Nishaanchi".
He mentioned, “Initially, we considered titles like Babloo Nishaanchi, Rangilee Rinku, and Dabloo, but everyone agreed they were too lengthy. The story behind how we arrived at the title 'Nishaanchi' is quite interesting.”
For those unfamiliar, Babloo and Dabloo are the names of Aaishvary Thackeray’s twin characters in the film, while Rinku refers to Vedika Pinto’s character.
