New Delhi, April 14 (NationPress) Music icon Katy Perry is poised to make history alongside five remarkable women as they embark on a journey to the edge of space aboard Blue Origin, the aerospace company founded by Jeff Bezos. This extraordinary tourist mission is scheduled for Monday evening.

The six-member group is set to launch on the company’s reusable New Shepard rocket -- NS-31 -- from Launch Site One in West Texas at 8:30 a.m. CDT (7:00 pm IST).

This marks the 11th human flight to suborbital space, which will last 11 minutes and ascend above the Karman line, the globally recognized boundary of space.

“I’ve dreamt of going to space for 15 years, and tomorrow that dream becomes a reality,” Perry expressed in an Instagram post, accompanied by a video.

“I am incredibly honored to be flying with five other amazing and inspiring women, as we become the first-ever all-female flight crew in space!” she continued.

In her video, she provided fans with an exclusive look inside her space capsule and hinted that she may perform a song in space.

“I think I’m gonna sing, I’m gonna sing in a little bit, I got to sing in space,” she joked.

Joining Perry on this mission are Aisha Bowe, Amanda Nguyen, Gayle King, Kerianne Flynn, and Lauren Sanchez.

According to Blue Origin, this is the first all-female flight crew since Valentina Tereshkova’s solo mission in 1963.

Perry is celebrated as one of the best-selling music artists of all time and a dedicated philanthropist, while Flynn is a film producer and philanthropist. King and Sanchez are both distinguished journalists.

Nguyen, a bioastronautics research scientist, will make history as the first Vietnamese and Southeast Asian woman in space.

Bowe, a former NASA rocket scientist and CEO of STEMBoard, an engineering company, is set to oversee three research projects, including studies on plant biology and human physiology, all aimed at furthering our understanding of space for the benefit of Earth.

This mission marks Blue Origin’s second flight this year. To date, the company has successfully transported 52 individuals above the Karman line.
