Mumbai, July 9 (NationPress) Actor Kay Kay Menon, who is preparing for the release of the much-anticipated season of the acclaimed streaming series ‘Special Ops’, has praised show creator Neeraj Pandey for crafting characters that are exceptionally well-developed in all his works.
In a recent discussion with IANS, Kay Kay Menon emphasized that a well-defined antagonist is a hallmark of Neeraj Pandey’s films, including notable titles like ‘A Wednesday’, ‘Special 26’, ‘Baby’, and ‘Khakee: The Bihar Chapter’. With cyber warfare as a central theme in the upcoming season, ‘Special Ops’ continues this tradition.
The actor expressed to IANS, “In Neeraj's writing, the antagonist is thoroughly developed. He never lets that aspect falter. You go through the script and realize that the entire essence is there; it’s up to the actor to bring it to life. Everything needed is in the script. This is something that Neeraj consistently achieves.”
He elaborated, “The more complex the villain is, the greater the challenge for my character Himmat Singh and his team. It demands a certain bravery to confront such depth, creating an exhilarating cat-and-mouse dynamic. Everything is amplified.”
Previously, the actor described his method of character preparation as “unexciting” yet highly effective for him.
Discussing his approach to embodying a character, he stated, “It's about immersing myself in the script. Not constantly overthinking or brainstorming. I truly believe that the more time spent with the script, the more it reveals something distinctive. I await that revelation. It’s like a magic lamp—suddenly, it becomes clear in my mind. The script is always there.”
“I don’t invest too much in ‘What should I do here? How do I play this scene?’. No, I let it come to me, similar to how a skilled batsman waits for the ball to reach the bat, like in a test match,” he added.
‘Special Ops 2’ is scheduled to stream on JioHotstar starting July 18, 2025.
