Mumbai, Aug 6 (NationPress) Actor-director Kayoze Irani, who has been receiving positive feedback for his directorial debut ‘Sarzameen’, is now looking to create a comedy film as his next project.
In an interview with IANS during the promotional activities for ‘Sarzameen’, Kayoze expressed his long-standing aspiration to be a director. He shared that the opportunity arose unexpectedly when Bollywood's versatile figure Karan Johar cast him in ‘Student of the Year’, which also marked the debut of stars like Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra, and Varun Dhawan.
Kayoze revealed to IANS, “I've always wanted to be a director. It just so happened by chance that Karan offered me the film. I agreed to do it because I thought it would help me understand the actor's experience, something I had never encountered. The gaze of a 200-strong crew, the bright lights, and the thermocol under your chin make it a unique experience. It’s not solely about a serious or a comedic film; it’s about creating something that resonates with you. I’m planning to make a comedy next, but it has to be something that truly speaks to me.”
He further added, “After that, I want to explore something different. ‘Sarzameen’ had a profound impact on me, both personally and internally. It wasn't just about the backdrop of Kashmir or action; it revolved around family dynamics and love. I value internal conflict over external conflict. My passion for directing will always remain; I enjoy being behind the monitor, witnessing the unfolding of scenes, even shedding tears as I watch. If the audience continues to embrace my work, I hope to keep pursuing this path for years to come.”
The film is available for streaming on JioHotstar.
