Mumbai, July 18 (NationPress) Actress Kiran Dubey, who will star in the film titled '5th September', expressed that her focus has always been on the strength of a role, rather than its duration.
Explaining her decision to accept the role in '5th September', Kiran mentioned, “I know Mr. Kunal Malla, an actor, director, and producer from Dehradun, and I have great admiration for him as someone who practices what he preaches.
She recounted that the script was first presented to her during the COVID pandemic while she was back in her hometown.
“I found myself smiling throughout the narration as it felt incredibly refreshing,” she recalled.
Kiran noted that '5th September' brings back memories of the kind of films Rishikesh Mukherjee was known for—works rich in truth, innocence, and heartfelt messages.
She added, “It's rare to find stories today that highlight the teacher-student relationship. I was informed that my role might not be extensive, but I firmly believe in the impact of a strong role, regardless of its length.”
Kiran will portray a school therapist in her upcoming film.
She elaborated that her character gradually unfolds throughout the movie.
“While she makes brief appearances, her presence is felt through her authentic self. Initially, she seems like a cheerful and carefree individual. However, as the plot develops, we uncover a more complex and darker aspect of her life—something that I think many women in India will relate to,” she shared.
Regarding her appearance, Kiran stated, “I collaborated with Anuradha Malla ji, one of the film's producers and Kunal Malla's wife, to create my look. She has been the film's backbone, overseeing many elements of the project.”
As her first Bollywood venture, '5th September' holds special significance for Kiran.
Expressing her enthusiasm, she said, “Previously, I worked on an independent film in LA titled 'Where Is She Now?' Now, sharing the screen with legends like Sanjay Mishra ji, Brijendra Kala ji, Deepraj Rana—who is also a close friend—Kavin Dave, Sarika Singh, Victor Banerjee ji, and Atul Srivastava has been an overwhelming honor.”
