Mumbai Oct 15 (NationPress) Actress Navneet Nishan appears to be on a journey down memory lane. She recently posted a multitude of images from her blockbuster film "Raja Hindustani", which premiered in 1995, sharing her cherished memories of this cult classic.
In the images, the actress is seen portraying her character Kamaal Paasha, alongside Aamir Khan. She captioned the post, "Mumbai, 1995. ‘Raja Hindustani’ is arguably the greatest hit of my career. It overshadows all my other films. The director, Dharmesh Darshan ji, was incredibly passionate about filmmaking and perfecting the ‘Sur’. Watching him work was a profound lesson in the art of creating a spectacular film.” (sic)
She continued, “I was unexpectedly approached by Dharmesh ji, who shared a narration with me that completely enchanted me. I was thrilled to take on an unglamorous role, almost like a tapori. I eagerly agreed and was captivated by Dharmesh ji's energy and his relentless pursuit of excellence.”
Reflecting on her co-star, she mentioned, “My co-star Veeru Krishnan, who played Gulab Singh, was a wonderful person off-screen too, and I learned a lot from him. Although he wasn’t a conventional actor but a Kathak dancer, he was quite apprehensive about fulfilling his role accurately. From the start, Dharmesh ji entrusted me with the responsibility of supporting Veeru ji. We continuously discussed the film and rehearsed extensively, which helped us forge a strong friendship.”
Sharing her delightful experiences, Nishan added, “The entire cast, including young Kunal Kemu, bonded exceptionally well, and we often spent time together post-shoot. Our evenings were filled with music and Veeru ji performing for us with Pakeezah tracks. Johny ji brought a lot of joy, while Aamir engaged us in captivating conversations. The chemistry among us was unmistakable.”
She expressed, “As an actor, you can feel when magic is being created on set, and it was unmistakable during this shoot. I could never have anticipated it becoming such a colossal success. The two characters my fans frequently mention are Kamaal Pasha from Raja Hindustani and, of course, Tara.” (sic)
On the film, she remarked, “This entire experience is permanently etched in my heart; it’s the sweetest memory ever. I found a lifelong friend in Dharmesh ji and was fortunate to collaborate with him multiple times. To me, he is an avatar of Raj Kapoor ji and embodies a unique style of filmmaking. He has always believed in me as an actor and promised I would feature in every film he directs, and he has kept that promise. I am hopeful that whenever he embarks on his next film, I will certainly be a part of it.” (sic)
