Mumbai, Jan 24 (NationPress) Actor-producer and self-styled critic Kamaal R. Khan, who has been placed in police custody following the filing of a case concerning firearm use, asserts that he is the subject of targeted actions by the Hindi film industry.
KRK contends that his persistent critique of films, production houses, and actors has placed him under scrutiny from prominent figures in the industry, who, he believes, are now seeking revenge against him.
According to KRK's attorney, an unidentified individual discharged a firearm at two separate apartment buildings. The distance between the two structures is 400 meters, while the effective range of the weapon is merely 20 meters. He stated, “I have no knowledge of this individual. There was no prior acquaintance, nor was there any intent to shoot. Because I share my opinions on Facebook, people from the film industry are targeting me. I possess a license, and I am a businessman who has been residing in Mumbai for several years—there's no way I would flee.”
KRK maintains that he is being unjustly targeted by the film industry. A Bandra court has ordered that KRK remain in police custody until January 27.
While presenting KRK in court, authorities revealed that two shots were fired and one cartridge was recovered. The reasons behind the shooting remain unclear.
KRK was taken into custody by Mumbai Police in relation to a shooting incident that transpired on January 18, 2026, in the Oshiwara area of Andheri, Mumbai. Investigations revealed that two bullets struck the Nalanda Society, leaving impact marks on the second and fourth floors of the residential complex, although no injuries were reported.
After initial CCTV footage failed to provide leads, forensic analysis indicated that the shots may have originated from KRK’s nearby bungalow. During interrogation at the Oshiwara police station, KRK confessed to discharging his licensed weapon, stating that he was cleaning and testing the gun, aiming at a nearby mangrove area, but strong winds caused the bullets to veer off course and strike the building.
