Lisa Kudrow's Awkward Confession: Watching ‘Friends’ Alone
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Los Angeles, March 29 (NationPress) Hollywood star Lisa Kudrow revealed that she feels "too embarrassed" to view her beloved sitcom ‘Friends’ in the company of her family.
The 62-year-old actress prefers to watch a few episodes of the NBC classic only after her 67-year-old husband, Michel Stern, has gone to bed. In the iconic series, she portrayed the quirky and optimistic Phoebe Buffay, according to reports from Female First UK.
During her appearance on ‘The Scott Mills Breakfast Show’, guest host Gary Davies inquired about the sitcoms she enjoys, to which she responded, "I watch Friends at night before I sleep. I haven't seen many episodes. I sit in the family room and wait for my husband to fall asleep because I'm too embarrassed for anyone to see me watching it - but I’ll share it with all of you."
Gary, 68, joked that she might not tell her husband but is willing to share with their listeners, leading Lisa to clarify, "No, he knows I enjoy watching it."
As reported by Female First UK, Lisa didn't catch many episodes of Friends during its original airing due to her busy filming schedule. The show followed the lives of Phoebe, Rachel Green (played by Jennifer Aniston), Ross Geller (played by David Schwimmer), Monica Geller (played by Courteney Cox), and Chandler Bing (played by Matthew Perry) in Manhattan, New York.
Lisa noted, "Only the initial seasons because we were busy working. I don’t think any of us watched every episode. And we weren’t hanging out watching the show while it was being filmed. Initially, you do. But then you become too busy, even during production."
She finds Friends to be a pleasant way to unwind before heading to bed. When Gary asked how she feels about the episodes after all these years, Lisa replied, "Hilarious. I laugh when it’s me. If my husband walks in to grab something, he’s like, 'Oh, you’re watching your show. Okay.' Then he stays for a bit. It’s funny."
Lisa also mentioned that she has recently reached the series eight finale, where Rachel and Ross welcome their daughter, Emma, into their lives. Friends aired from 1994 to 2004, producing a total of 236 episodes, and Lisa takes pride in being part of the show.
When asked if she feels "over the moon" about her role on Friends, Lisa responded, "Oh, absolutely! But I felt that way from the beginning. I was cautiously optimistic, trying to keep it real. But once it was apparent that it was a success and we were likely to be around for a while, it all happened so quickly, right after that first season. We were genuinely grateful. We were quite good, I have to say, in terms of our attitudes."
“We all felt thankful. We worked diligently on our relationships, too, because we recognized that our camaraderie translated to the screen, so we aimed to be good together. Everything about it was remarkable, I must say," she added.
