Lisa Kudrow Reflects on Emotional 'Friends' Scene

Los Angeles, Dec 11 (NationPress) Actress Lisa Kudrow, who portrayed the unforgettable character Phoebe, shared her feelings about a specific episode of the sitcom Friends that left her emotional upon first viewing it.
During an episode of Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s Dinner’s on Me podcast, Kudrow revealed that she recently began watching the sitcom for the first time after years of avoiding it, as reported by people.com.
“Heaven forbid, if someone entered my home and caught me watching my own show, I’d feel embarrassed,” Kudrow joked.
“There are episodes I’ve never seen. I mean, I attended the table read. I have no clue about the rewrites for the other storylines, you know?” she elaborated.
She went on to say: “There are episodes I simply never viewed, and I still haven’t because I’m figuring out how to approach it. There’s a certain level of anxiety associated with watching it.”
Kudrow expressed her concern about what her “take-away” might be from various episodes.
She mentioned the season 10 episode where her character, Phoebe Buffay, ties the knot with her boyfriend Mike.
“Honestly, when Phoebe got married and walked down the aisle with that enormous smile on her face, I became emotional because she was so blissfully happy,” Kudrow, now 61, reminisced.
“She was genuinely happy, and it was just — I don’t know. It really moved me. It felt like she truly deserves this happiness.”
Earlier in their discussion, Ferguson and Kudrow acknowledged that the character has a tragic backstory, having come from a broken family, experienced homelessness, and dealt with her challenging relationship with her “evil” twin sister Ursula.
“To me, the humor — what would be funny — about that is a person who just views it all as, you know, it’s not solely about me. Can’t take it personally. It occurs to everyone,” Kudrow remarked about her interpretation of the character.
